Fairlie Harmar was born in Weymouth, Dorset, and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. On her marriage to Ernest Arthur George Pomeroy, 7th Viscount Harberton, she became Viscountess Harberton. She painted landscape and figurative subjects including a number of views of Cheyne Walk and the Thames Embankment at Chelsea. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, New English Art Club, Royal Society of British Artists, Grosvenor Galleries, Walker’s Galleries and elsewhere. She became a member of the New English Art Club in 1917. A Memorial Exhibition of her work was held at the Leger Galleries in 1945. Pictures by her and in the collections of the Imperial War Museum, University College London, and in many other public collections including those at Glasgow, Birmingham, Southampton, Wolverhampton and Bradford.
