ALBERT MOULTON FOWERAKER (1873-1942)

Born in Exeter, he was educated at Exeter Cathedral School and Christ’s College, Cambridge, where he obtained a degree in Applied Science in 1893. Initially a Milling Engineer he took up art professionally in 1898. He exhibited regularly and was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1902; the same year he moved to Lelant in Cornwall. Particularly fascinated by the effects of light, especially moonlight, he painted landscapes of his native Devon and Cornwall and also travelled to paint in Spain, France and North Africa.
