Leonard Philpot was born in London and studied at South Kensington Schools. Best known for his paintings of gardens and flowers which he studied in Britain, China and America. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society and elsewhere and works by him are in several public collections. He also practised architecture as an interior designer. He was the brother of the artist Glyn Philpot.
