Anna Dixon was born in Scotland and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy Life School in Edinburgh under E A Walton, Charles Mackie and William Walls. She worked in oil and watercolours painting birds, flowers, figure and landscape subjects. She visited France regularly, making several trips to paint at Concarneau in Brittany. Anna Dixon exhibited prolifically for 64 years, showing at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours, Glasgow Institute and Aberdeen Art Society. She was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1917 and became President of the Scottish Society of Women Artists in 1930. She lived in Edinburgh.
