Jock MacInness studied at the Glasgow School of Art, where he graduated in 1967. He then returned the school to teach for a time before concentrating solely on his own work. He became a member of the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1988 and joined the Council of the Institute in 1995. His work can be found in many public and corporate collections including The Dick Institute, Kilmarnock; Paisley Art Institute; Glasgow and Strathclyde Universites; the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Nationwide Building Society.
