Ehrlich was born in Austria and studied art in Vienna at the Kunstgewerbeschule, 1912-15. He came to London as a refugee in 1937 and, taking British nationality, worked as a sculptor, draughtsman and etcher. He exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, with the Arts Council of Great Britain and elsewhere and also showed widely on the continent and in North America. Making his name as a sculptor, his bronzes were mainly tender studies of adolescents or animals. He completed public sculpture in Britain and abroad, held many one-man shows and was included in the Venice Biennale in 1958. His work is in many public collections including the Tate Gallery, British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum. He died in Switzerland in 1966.
