A portrait painter and illustrator, Oscar Wilson was born London and studied at South Kensington and Antwerp under Polydore Beaufaux and Charles Verlat. As an illustrator he contributed to many publications including The Sketch and The Illustrated London News. He exhibited paintings at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists and elsewhere. His painting Idling, showing the interior of an art school, is in the collection of Bolton Museum and Art Gallery. He was a member of the Royal Miniature Society and an associate member of the Royal Society of British Artists and lived in Blackheath, London.
