Goldfish
Lionel Townsend Crawshaw was born near Doncaster, Yorkshire. He attended Cambridge University where he initially qualified as a solicitor before taking up Art, studying in Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe and at Colarossi’s in Paris. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, New English Art Club and elsewhere. His wife, Frances Crawshaw, was a flower painter. Considered a member of the Staithes Group, he and Frances lived in Yorkshire until the early 1930s but exhibited from addresses in Scotland, Worcestershire and Liverpool. They latterly lived in Devon. Crawshaw exhibited a work titled Angel Fish at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1936 (no.616).
