Helen Mary Ferrier Taylor was born in Caterham, Surrey and educated at the Eothen School before attending the Slade School of Art, 1917-21. In 1935 she married Lieutenant Colonel H W Moggridge. Her early work was realistic but much of it was destroyed by fire during World War II. She then stopped work for a while, resuming in the early 1950s when she started to paint colourful abstract pictures, often inspired by the landscape of the Sussex Downs where she then lived. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, New English Art Club, Leicester Galleries and Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne. She died in Burford, Oxfordshire in 1989.
