Henry William Banks Davis

1833 - 1914

England Davis was a landscapist and animalier. He studied at the Royal Academy and frequently exhibited with Society of British Artists on Suffolk Street, at the Royal Academy from 1852 to 1904, at the British Institution from 1853 until 1893, as well as in Vienna and Paris. In 1877, he was elected to Royal Academy.

His landscapes of Wales, Scotland and Northern France began as highly detailed views, finished in a technique that showed the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite painters.
