Leonard Daniel Philpot was born in London and studied at the South Kensington Schools. Best known for his paintings of gardens and flowers which he studied in Britain, China and America. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society and elsewhere. He also practised architecture and as an interior designer. He was the brother of the artist Glyn Philpot. Works by him are in the collections of the Harris Museum, Preston and the British Museum.
