Study for 'Allegory'
Leonard James Stroudley was born in London and studied at Clapham School of Art and the Royal College of Art. He won a scholarship which gave him three years travelling in Italy where he was learnt the importance of the classical study of draughtsmanship. On his return to London he became a visiting lecturer at the Royal Academy School and exhibited at the Royal Academy and Royal Society of British Artist, of which he was elected a member in 1934. He is represented in the collection of many British public collections. A study for the male figure on the far right of Stroudley’s large Allegory of c.1928 (private collection).
