Edith Mary Garner was born at Wasperton Hill, near Warwick. She studied at the Slade School of Art and in Paris and exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, New English Art Club and Paris Salon. In 1917 she married the artist William Lee-Hankey. Rather oddley the artist has mistitled this watercolour and inscribed it as Montague House, Portman Square.
