EDGAR WILSON
(1861-1918)
The Peacock
Pen and ink
Framed
21 by 6 cm., 8 ¼ by 2 ½ in.
(frame size 28.5 by 13 cm., 11 ¼ by 5 in.)
Edgar Wilson worked as a print maker and illustrator, mostly for lively and comic periodicals such as The Butterfly, The Idler and Pick Me Up. Strongly influenced by Japanese art he had a highly decorative, aesthetic and individual style. A fragmented label on the reverse suggests this drawing was executed and published in 1898.
