Cornish Fisherman
Grierson was born in Queenstown, County Cork and studied at the Crawford School of Art before attending the Westminster School of Art in London. By 1886 he was living in the village of Heamoor near Penzance and at this time he was closely associated with the Newlyn School, Stanhope Forbes mentioning him in several letters between 1886-7 (Hardie, Dictionary of Artist in Newlyn and West Cornwall). By 1894 he had returned to London. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy and elsewhere. In 1892 he became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours where he was also a regular exhibitor.
