Peter Evelyn Stebbing was born in Chertsey, Surrey. He was educated at Marlborough College before studying art at Ruskin College of Art, Oxford. He worked as a trompe d’oeil painter, muralist and interior designer in London during the 1940s to late 1960s. His client list included many society names of the time as well as important commissions for the interiors of various London hotels such as the Mayfair and Waldorf.
