Kate Elizabeth Olver was born in London, the daughter of a Harley Street dental surgeon. She studied at the Royal Academy Schools, 1901-1906, and privately in Dunstable. A painter of portraits and figure subjects, she exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy, Society of Women Artists, Royal Glasgow Institute and Paris Salon. She also illustrated a number of books including Robert Louis Stevenson’s A Child’s Garden of Verse. In 1927 she married the artist and author Charles Samson Higgins
