The Spode Cup
Harry More Gordon is a Scottish watercolourist noted for his elegant and closely observed still life and flower pieces, portraits and group subjects or conversation pieces. After studying at Edinburgh College of Art he initially worked as a fabric designer, graphic artist and freelance illustrator before becoming Art Direct of Vogue. He returned to Edinburgh College of Art to become Head of Illustration for 25 years until 1988. A retrospective exhibition was held at the National Portrait Gallery of Scotland in 2005. His group portrait of Eight Secretaries of State for Scotland is in the collection of the National Gallery of Scotland.
