Signed and dated ”˜73 Watercolour and bodycolour

On a trip to New York in 1970, Zandra Rhodes visited the National Museum of the American Indian where she was fascinated and inspired by the costume designs featuring feathers, porcupine quills and beads. She developed her studies of the headdresses and embroidered costumes into a series of fabric designs using colour combinations originally used by Native Americans. We are grateful to the Zandra Rhodes Studio for help in cataloguing this work.
