Patrick Ferguson Millard
1902 - 1977
United Kingdom An animal and landscape painter in oil, watercolour and pastel. Born in Aspatria, Cumbria, educated at St John's School, Leatherhead and studied at Liverpool School of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools (1921-25) under Charles Sims and Ernest Jackson. Awarded a gold medal at the Royal Academy Schools and won the Edwin Stott Travelling Scholarship. Exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, New English Art Club, Brook Street Art Gallery and the London Group. He was Principal of St John's Wood Art School before becoming Headmaster of the Regent Street Polytechnic. He published the Students' Book of Life Drawing in 1938. Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight, holds his work and a retrospective show was held at the Christopher Hull Gallery in 1987. He lived in London.
