Mabel Dawson

1887 - 1965

Scotland Born in Edinburgh, Mabel Dawson studied at Edinburgh College of Art under Robert McGregor and William Walls and under Frank Calderon at his school of animal painting in Kensington. Although best known for her paintings of animals and birds she also painted historical scenes, east coast fishing villages, interiors and flowers. She exhibited extensively at the Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Scottish Watercolour Society and became a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society in 1917. She was also noted for her embroidery work.
