Harry Watson

1871 - 1936

Watson was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire where he studied at the local school of art before entering the Lambeth School of Art and later the Royal College of Art (1889-1894). Working in an impressionist style he painted usually en plein air, being particularly interested in the effects of light. He exhibited from the Royal Academy from 1896. Works by him are in the collection of the Tate Gallery, London. A memorial exhibition was held at Leamington Spa Art Gallery in 1938.
