Frank Brangwyn
1867 - 1956
EnglandBorn in Belguim in 1867, Brangwyns family moved back to London in 1875. By 1882, Frank was training under for William Morris. In 1885 he exhibited a painting at the Royal Academy-encouraged by this, he rented a studio and began to paint full time. He exhibited Funeral At Sea 1890 at the Paris Salon in 1891 and it received a gold medal. In 1888 he worked on a ship headed to Istanbul and this inspired him to use a brighter, more experimental style and colour. By the end of his life, Brangwyn had had experience in many different areas: painting, drawing, interior design and decorative arts, murals, and illustration for both books and periodicals. He died in 1956.
