Arthur Winter Shaw

1869 - 1948

Arthur Winter Shaw was born in Peckham, the son of a Clerk to the War Office. He studied at Westminster School of Art and at the Slade. In about 1904 he moved to Amberley in Sussex, then the home of a thriving artistic community established by Edward Stott who has been described as "the poet-painter of twilight". Stott's influence can clearly be seen in the present work.

Shaw was a regular exhibitor at many venues in London and the provinces.
