Patty Townsend was a Coventry born landscape, figure painter and illustrator. She married into the family of a wealthy industrialist and lived at Attleborough Hall, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. At this time she added her husband’s surname to her own and became known as Patty Townsend-Johnson. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Dudley Gallery, Grosvenor Gallery, Society of Women Artists and elsewhere and became a member of the Society of Women Artists in 1893. In 1905 she presented a number of her works to the city of Coventry. Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery hold a large collection of her works.
