MARIT GUINNESS ASCHAN (1919-2004) On an Airport Signed and inscribed: On an Airport, Canada or Iceland on the reverse Oil on paper, unframed, in mount only 25.5 by 34 cm., 10 by 13 in. (mount size 48 by 56 cm., 19 by 22 in.) Marit Guinness Aschan was born in 1919, the daughter of Samuel Guinness. She worked as a enamellist, painter and sculptor and was President of the Artist Enamellers since its foundation in 1968. She exhibited her work at the Royal Academy; Leicester Galleries; Lincoln Centre, New York, Saga Gallery, London; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and at the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. She also had solo shows at many galleries in London and New York. Works by her are in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum; Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths; Paul Oppe Collection, Brooklyn; New York University Art Collection; Yale University Art Gallery and many other private and public collections.
