Street Urchin
Woodlock was born in Tipperary, Ireland and moved to England to study at the Liverpool Academy, becoming a founder member of the Liverpool Sketching Club. He later lived in Sheffield and Leamington, Warwickshire. He exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and Royal Society of British Artists. He is best known as a painter of cottages, gardens and rural subjects so this poignant study of a street urchin is unusual.
