Joseph Robinson was an artist and theatre designer. Waiting in the Wings, an exhibition of his World War II studies and paintings was held at the Minories Gallery, Colchester in 2011.
The artist John Gordon Bensusan-Butt, RBA (1911-1997) was the son of a Colchester doctor, Ruth Bensusan-Butt. Lucien Pissarro was his uncle by marriage and became his teacher and adviser throughout his artistic career. He was a member of the Colchester Art Society and wrote about and curated several exhibitions devoted to the work of Lucien and Camille Pissarro. He lived at the Minories, Colchester, now the home of the Minories Musuem and Art Gallery. His brother, David Bensusan-Butt, was a noted economist.
