Mabel Gear was born in Suffolk and studied at Colchester School of Art under Septimus Power and at Herkomer”™s Art School. She is best known as a painter of birds and animals. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Scottish Academy and the Society of Women Artists.
