Jean Harper was born in Demerara, British West Indies and studied at the Royal College of Art and British School in Rome. She was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy and Royal Watercolour Society and was elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers and Engravers. She illustrated several children’s books and is represented in the collection of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston and Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
