George Owen Wynne Apperley
1884 - 1960
Apperley was born at Ventnor, Isle of Wight. He trained briefly at the Herkomer School in Bushey but was mainly self-taught. In 1917 he abandoned his wife and family to live in Spain where he later remarried. Thereafter he is painted mainly in Spain or Morocco where he died in 1960. Works by him are in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, Museo de Malaga, Lady Lever Art Gallery, Liverpool and the Bushey Museum.
